Suitability Report
The following report was put together for a physical planning class. The goal of the assignment was to hypothetically influence the decisions of developers in Champaign County so that they would construct residential and commercial buildings in a way that is respectful of the region’s natural systems. Specifically, the process involved examining the environmental factors of soil type, slope, water, and green infrastructure. The results of the individual analyses were combined using Ian McHarg’s overlaying method to create a composite suitability map showing the ideal locations for the future development of the county.
